Auditions for Into The Woods will be done via video submission only.

Due to the current situation with coronavirus, we are planning to audition via video submissions.  Auditioning in this manner will extend our audition process about a week longer than we had originally planned.  This is uncharted territory for us - we appreciate your understanding and willingness to work through any kinks that may arise. Auditions will be accomplished in several steps as follows:

1. Submission of a single audition cut for one character from the audition folder.  All performers will be considered for multiple roles, however, we only want to see one vocal audition at this time.  Audition cuts must be received by Saturday, March 28 at 5 pm. Please see the Video Audition Requirements included in this email for further information.

2. Callbacks:  All performers will be notified of their callback status by Monday, March 30 at 10 pm.   Performers receiving a callback will be asked to prepare additional material, which may include readings from the script or additional vocal selections.  All callback materials must be recorded and returned by email by Friday April 2 at 5 pm. You do not have to receive a callback to be cast.

3. Final callbacks will take place the weekend of April 3-4 via Facetime, Zoom, Google Hangout, or other electronic format.  Performers who are needed for final callbacks will be notified by phone.

4. The cast list will be emailed by Wednesday April 8.  At that time, all performers will receive a letter of commitment which must be returned to us by Monday, April 13.  Casting is always a complicated process, like putting together a challenging puzzle, and we work hard to ensure that every piece of the puzzle fits smoothly and cohesively to create a beautiful picture. We appreciate your willingness to share your hearts with us, our students, and our audiences.

At KidsAlive! most performers play multiple roles, and EVERY performer is an integral part of the production. The vision for our production of Into the Woods is unique, and requires an ensemble that is present throughout the show and provides the vocal power, perspective and intensity that drives the production.  Please note that ALL performers, regardless of named role, will also be an integral part of the ensemble and be required to be at all rehearsals and active onstage throughout the performance as part of our forest of trees.  We will be looking for approximately 40 performers who are willing and able to multitask and make strong contributions to the whole!  Ensemble members without named roles will also receive individual lines and vocal opportunities. All roles are open to both adults and student performers.  Please keep in mind that every auditioner will be considered for multiple roles regardless of initial audition.

Audition cuts are available for most roles:

Narrator:

An intellectual and pleasant story-teller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience.  The many responsibilities of the Narrator will be divided amongst the ensemble throughout the show. Auditioners are free to select the narrator cut for their initial audition.
