The KA! Sparks program is designed for our younger and less experienced performer group.
Saturday March 30
9:00 am to 12:00 pm - Sparks Auditions
1 to 2 pm - Kaleidoscope Auditions
The KidsAlive! Studio, Room 140 at the Page Woodson Building, 600 N. High
Sign-Up for Auditions HERE.
Auditions will be held in classic KA! Workshop Style.
Auditions will begin promptly at the listed time.
Please plan to arrive prior to the initial audition in time to fill out paperwork and ask any questions that you might have.
Prior to auditions, you must complete a liability release and list any potential conflicts with the rehearsal period. The release is in your sign-up. The Conflict Calendar can be found below.
Only limited conflicts will be accepted as we have a very short rehearsal period. Also, we will not accept conflicts during the final two weeks of rehearsal. All conflicts must be approved in advance by the director. Our rehearsal schedule is prepared around your child's availability, so no conflicts will be accepted once casting is complete.

We believe that a clear understanding of our policies is beneficial to both our program and it's participants. We ask that you carefully read and take note of these policies prior to participating in KidsAlive! programming. You will be asked to acknowledge receipt of and acceptance of these policies prior to auditions. You will find a copy of our new KidsAlive! policy statement HERE.
Workshop Auditions & Music Cuts
Our auditions are workshop style with plenty of time for questions and feedback. The audition will consist of learning music from the score and readings from the script. If your child is not a solid reader yet, no worries! We will teach them what they need to say or sing. We will cover all the material during the audition process, so please do not stress about preparation. It will be helpful if your child is familiar with the soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast. You will find music audition cuts HERE.
What to Wear & Bring:
Performers should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in and jazz shoes or other dance footwear if possible. No sandals, flip-flops, or backless shoes. Please have them bring a labeled water bottle as well.
Please bring a headshot and résumé if your child has one. If not, please bring a good quality photo of your performer's smiling face and a list of their dance, vocal and/or performance related experiences.
There will be NO CALLBACKS for this production, so you do not have to worry about coming back after the initial auditions.
The cast list will be emailed to all auditioners by Tuesday, April 9.
The TOTAL COST of the KA! Sparks Summer production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. is $350.
$25 of this is a once-per semester registration fee which helps us cover the cost of services which allow families to pay online, receive reminders, etc. (The registration fee for a family with more than one child is $35 per family.) This fee will not be duplicated if your student also desires to participate in other summer programming.
Tuition for Beauty and the Beast, Jr. is $325.
With the cast list all performers will receive a letter of commitment which must be returned to us by Tuesday April 16, along with a $75 non-refundable deposit, to hold your child's place in the Summer Sparks program.
Students who do not return their deposit and LOC by April 16 will be dropped from the cast list.
The remaining $275 Tuition Balance will be due by the first rehearsal.
Our Kaleidoscope Program partners children with special needs (Gems) with more experienced young performers (Mirrors). Due to the intensity of the Summer Intensive program, anyone interested in our Kaleidoscope program will be involved in the Sparks Production, where they will learn the ins and outs of ensemble work (the foundation of the KidsAlive! experience!). This is specifically for Gems who still get partnered with a Mirror. For Gems ready to integrate into our full Summer Intensive, click HERE.
See tuition section above
Mirrors for our Gems will be selected from the Summer Intensive program. For more information on our Kaleidoscope program, click HERE.

Performers in our Junior Productions can expect to be onstage the bulk of the performance learning a variety of roles, creating the set, and a myriad of other responsibilities which are guaranteed to keep them engaged and active for the bulk of the production.
A vibrant, intelligent girl with beauty, who wants more out of the life than an ordinary existence. She is optimistic, fun-loving, caring, and eager to experience life.
A Prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion. He is hot-tempered and commanding, but has a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior.
The egotistical, ultra-masculine villain determined to marry Belle. He is manipulative yet charming and earnest.
Belle's loving, eccentric father. A child at heart and inventor in his own world.
A tightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock and the head of the Beast's household. He is uptight, strict, and punctual but also hard-working, faithful, and thorough.
A warm-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. She is loyal, caring, and playful.
A suave, debonair enchanted candelabra. He is a loyal and steadfast servant.
An enchanted teacup and Mrs. Potts' darling little boy. He is innocent, playful, and bright-eyed.
A saucy, enchanted feather-duster, and the object of Lumiere's affections. She is the playful, gorgeous, seductive French maid.
Madame De La Grande Bouche
A former opera diva-turned-enchanted wardrobe. She has a caring, refined, larger than life personality.
Gaston's bumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic, and optimistic, but not quite the brightest guy.
The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark, sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle.
